You need to read a script once for a short video intro, a meeting, or a quick rehearsal. Downloading an app feels like overkill, and registering an account even more so. CueBuddy's web teleprompter is built for exactly that moment.
What CueBuddy Web can do
Open the page, paste your script, set font size, scroll speed, and mirroring, then:
- Full-screen / window / mirrored modes: mirror mode flips text horizontally for DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, or beam-splitter teleprompter rigs.
- Voice following: when the browser and system provide speech recognition, the script can advance with recognized speech and wait during pauses. Availability and network processing can vary by environment.
- Local recording: the current page runtime records to a local browser Blob and downloads the result to your device; it has no active path that uploads the recording to CueBuddy.
- No CueBuddy login or ads: the current Web workflow does not require a CueBuddy account and does not display ads.

The Web version is a low-friction starting point. The app adds platform-specific recording and prompting workflows for people who need them regularly.
Three-step start
Step 1: Open the page and paste your script
Open the online teleprompter in a current browser. Paste your script in plain text or Markdown.
Step 2: Turn on voice following and mirroring (if needed)
If your browser supports speech recognition, enable voice following and start reading. Enable mirroring when using a camera rig.
Step 3: Read, record, download
After reading, if local recording is enabled and supported, download the resulting file to your device. Test the browser's permission and recording support before an important session.
When it may not fit
- Browser doesn't support speech recognition: browser, system, language, permission, or privacy settings can make voice following unavailable.
- Critical shoot without a test run: always record a 10-second test to confirm permissions, speed, and mirroring.
- Need a transparent overlay above another app: CueBuddy Web does not currently provide that workflow.
Final note
CueBuddy Web is not trying to replace every app. It reduces the setup needed for a quick prompting session. Try it online first, then consider the app if you need PiP, portrait effects, or more recording options.
FAQ
Does CueBuddy Web require payment or an account?
The current core Web workflow does not ask for payment or a CueBuddy account. Open the page, test prompting in your browser, and decide later whether you need the app's additional workflows. This describes the current repository implementation, not a permanent pricing promise.
Does the web version need to be downloaded or installed?
No installation is required. Open the page in a browser; drafts and the script library use that browser's local storage. The current CueBuddy runtime has no active script-upload path, but page requests, hosting logs, browser speech providers, and outbound links are separate data paths. Switching devices or clearing browser data can remove local scripts, so keep your own backups of important ones.
Is voice following on the web the same as in the app?
Both workflows can match recognition fragments to the script position. Web voice recognition depends on browser and system capabilities. The app uses Apple's Speech framework, but recognition support and network needs can still vary by device, language, OS version, and environment. Test the actual device and language before an important shoot.
Is it safe to keep my scripts in the web version?
CueBuddy Web stores scripts in the current browser by default, and the current runtime has no active script-upload path. That does not make every surrounding data path local: hosting receives page requests, and Web Speech processing may depend on the browser or system provider. Local browser data also does not automatically appear on another device and may be removed when browser data is cleared.
