1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to CamSpan (the “App” or the “Service”).
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not download, install, or use the App; if you have already installed it, please stop using it and uninstall it.
When you enable specific features in the App (such as local-network connections or camera authorization), you will additionally be asked for separate authorization per the system prompts. See the CamSpan Privacy Policy for the related data-processing rules.
2. Operator Information
- Operator name: CamSpan Team
- Contact email: support@cuebuddy.cn
If the operator name, contact details, or brand information changes, we will update this document and the relevant in-app pages accordingly.
3. Scope of Application
These Terms apply to the CamSpan sender App (iPhone) and desktop Apps (macOS / Windows) and all of their built-in features. The App does not include any community or cloud media service operated by us; if new services are added in the future, they will be described separately and these Terms will be updated.
4. Service Description
The App is a connection tool that uses an iPhone as a system camera for desktop computers. Its core features include, but are not limited to:
- Device connection: connect the iPhone to a macOS / Windows desktop over local Wi-Fi (WebRTC) or USB;
- Virtual camera: the desktop App presents the iPhone feed as a system camera that can be selected in Zoom, Teams, Meet, OBS, Discord, FaceTime, and other software;
- Camera control: front/rear camera and lens switching, zoom, tap-to-focus, auto exposure/focus/white balance;
- Quality capabilities: Free offers 720p30 (Wi-Fi, H.264); Pro unlocks 1080p30 / 1080p60, 4K30, HEVC, USB connection, and manual exposure/focus/white balance controls;
- Status display: connection status, quality, latency, device temperature, and battery information;
- Reconnection: trusted devices recover automatically after brief disconnections without re-pairing;
- Diagnostics: local viewing and exporting of connection diagnostics;
- Membership subscription (optional): unlock higher quality, USB, and professional controls via Apple In-App Purchase.
All user data in the App is stored locally on your devices by default, and the camera feed is transmitted directly between your devices. We do not require an account to use the core features.
4.1 Nature of Connection and Quality Targets (Important)
You understand and agree that:
- Target values shown for the App (such as LAN or USB latency and connection-success goals) are product design targets, not promises or guarantees of any specific result;
- Actual quality, latency, and stability depend on your network environment, router performance, USB cable, device model, and concurrently running software;
- Whether third-party software (meeting, streaming, or recording apps) can recognize and use the virtual camera depends on that software's and the system's support for virtual camera resources; we do not guarantee normal operation in every version of every third-party app.
We may adjust, add, optimize, or suspend parts of the Service based on product iteration, platform changes, or legal requirements.
5. No Account and Device-to-Direct Connection
- The App does not offer account registration, login, or cloud media services;
- Your camera feed is transmitted directly between the sender and the desktop and never passes through our servers;
- Uninstalling the App or removing trusted devices deletes the corresponding local data;
- Pairing and trust data do not migrate automatically when you change devices; pair again instead.
6. Membership, Purchase, and Payment
6.1 Free and Pro
- Free provides the core connection capability: 720p30, Wi-Fi, H.264, one iPhone, virtual camera, automatic camera parameters, no time limit;
- Pro unlocks 1080p30 / 1080p60, 4K30, HEVC, USB connection, manual exposure/focus/white balance, advanced diagnostics, and quality controls;
- The specific division of features between Free and Pro is governed by what is actually displayed on the in-app subscription and membership pages;
- We may adjust the feature scope of Free and Pro as the product evolves; such adjustments will not delete local data already on your devices.
6.2 Purchase and Auto-Renewal
- Purchase, billing, renewal, refunds, and receipts are handled by the Apple App Store; we never see your card number or payment credentials;
- Subscriptions auto-renew by default: Apple charges the price for your selected period at the end of each billing cycle;
- You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time in iOS “Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions”; after cancellation, renewal stops and paid benefits remain available until the end of the current period;
- For refunds, use Apple's “Report a Problem” channel or contact Apple Support; refund outcomes are determined by Apple;
- After changing devices, reinstalling, or restoring your system, use “Restore Purchases” on the subscription page to re-validate your entitlements without paying again;
- Licensed application content is also governed by Apple's Standard EULA (https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). Where these Terms conflict with that EULA, Apple rules, or mandatory law, the mandatory provisions and Apple rules prevail.
6.3 Cross-Device Authorization
Pro benefits are validated through a signed entitlement assertion generated from the purchasing device's subscription status, with a limited-duration offline cache on the desktop, enabling entitlement validation without an account system. This assertion contains only the minimum information required for validation and none of your identity information.
7. User Content
- Your camera feed and the content it presents belong to you; the App acts only as a real-time transmission channel — we do not store, review, or claim any rights over your video;
- You are responsible for ensuring that content transmitted through the App does not violate laws or infringe the rights of others (including portrait, privacy, and copyright rights);
- Because the App has no cloud backend, your feed is not sent to us or to any third-party server by default.
8. Device Temperature, Battery, and Usage Advice
- Extended high-resolution, high-frame-rate video capture and transmission may cause the iPhone and desktop devices to warm up and consume battery faster; this is normal. The App provides temperature and battery status displays for reference;
- When a device overheats, the system or the App may proactively reduce quality or limit frame rates to protect the hardware;
- Use the devices in a ventilated environment and follow the device manufacturers' safety and charging guidelines.
9. Intellectual Property
- The App's name, logo, icons, interface design, copy, code, and all product materials are protected by copyright, trademark, and related laws, and belong to us or the respective rights holders;
- Without prior written permission, no one may copy, modify, reverse engineer (except as permitted by law), distribute, or commercially exploit such materials, or use confusingly similar names or marks to impersonate the App;
- Apple, iPhone, macOS, Windows, Zoom, OBS, and other third-party names and marks are trademarks of their respective owners.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree that you will not, in any way:
- Use the App for unlawful, infringing, or platform-rule-violating purposes;
- Break, circumvent, or reverse engineer the App's security or entitlement mechanisms, or technically bypass the Free/Pro boundary;
- Transmit, record, or distribute unlawful, obscene, violent, insulting, or rights-infringing content through the App;
- Secretly capture or transmit video involving others' privacy without their consent;
- Conduct automated abuse of the App, inject malicious code, or otherwise endanger device and network security.
If you breach this section, we may, to the extent permitted by law, discontinue providing you with further updates and support for the App.
11. Third-Party Services and Platforms
The App relies on or calls the following third-party capabilities:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: distribution, purchase, and subscription validation;
- System camera frameworks: macOS CoreMediaIO Camera Extension, Windows Media Foundation, and other system components;
- Open-source communication components: WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP encrypted transport) and Protocol Buffers runtime, used only for device-to-device connections and the control protocol, never transmitting your data to any third party;
- Meeting and streaming software: recognition and use of the virtual camera are implemented by that software.
The rules, availability, and privacy practices of these third-party services are the responsibility of their respective owners. We are not liable beyond what the law requires for functional changes caused by third-party platform policies or system updates.
12. Privacy
How we collect, use, store, share, and delete information is described in the CamSpan Privacy Policy. Where these Terms and the Privacy Policy are inconsistent regarding personal-information processing, the Privacy Policy and applicable law prevail.
13. Service Changes, Interruptions, and Termination
- We may suspend or adjust some features due to upgrades, system compatibility, platform requirements, or force majeure, and will announce this reasonably in advance where possible;
- You may stop using and uninstall the App at any time;
- The App has no accounts, so there is no “account deletion” process; uninstalling the App terminates the Service.
14. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for connection failures, quality degradation, or data loss caused by network conditions, device differences, cable quality, system updates, third-party software, or force majeure;
- We do not guarantee that connection latency, quality, or stability will meet any specific numeric standard (Section 4.1);
- We are not liable for results of using the virtual camera in third-party software;
- Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that may not be excluded under applicable law.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for disputes arising from the Service is limited to the minimum permitted by law, or to the amount you actually paid for the relevant paid content during the 12 months before the dispute arose (if applicable). This section does not apply to liability that may not be limited under mandatory law.
16. Minors
The App is designed for adult users. Minors should use it under a guardian's supervision, with the guardian reading and agreeing to these Terms on their behalf. See the Privacy Policy for rules on minors' personal information.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time due to feature changes, legal or platform-policy changes. Updated versions will be published in the App or on the release page with a new version number and effective date. If you continue to use the App after a material change takes effect, you are deemed to have accepted the updated Terms; if you do not accept them, stop using and uninstall the App.
18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (excluding the laws of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions);
- Where mandatory consumer-protection or data-protection provisions apply in your location, those mandatory provisions prevail;
- In case of a dispute, we recommend friendly negotiation first via the contact in Section 2; failing that, you may file suit with a court of competent jurisdiction.
